JERRY CANTRELL: New Album Lives Up To ALICE IN CHAINS Standards

January 30, 2002

Former (?) ALICE IN CHAINS axeman Jerry Cantrell's upcoming Degradation Trip effort, due out on May 14th through Roadrunner Records, stands up well alongside Cantrell's previous work with AIC and the 1998 Boggy Depot solo offering, according to the guitarist. "Yeah, we put it up against the ALICE records and Boggy Depot, of course,” Jerry said. “I want to make sure that it lives up to the standard that we've set. It certainly lives up to that and surpasses it in some ways and stands on its own to what I've done in the past. And you hope to do that with every record you put out. This one is definitely a huge leap forward, I think."

Cantrell also referred to Degradation Trip as the most “personal” album he's ever written. "It's probably the most personal and self-digging, you know, that I've ever put out I guess. It's the deepest I've gone in my writing both musically and lyrically. So it's a very personal journey this record to me. It's an incredible record."
